Monday April 18, 2011 Chris Byrd, President, Evolution Benefits Chris has over 25 years' experience in employee benefits and banking. As a founder of Evolution Benefits, he played a key role in designing the proprietary architecture for EB's prepaid benefits card. Previously, Chris focused on finance, strategy, and business development for Value Health and two startup health care companies. He began his career in commercial banking. Chris is a frequent speaker on emerging trends in financial services and benefits, and is active in industry and government relations. He is a founder and board member of SIGIS: Special Interest Group for IIAS Standards, where he also chairs the Certification and Compliance Committee. Jay Savan, CEBS , CLU, ChFC, CFP® Jay is a senior consultant with Towers Watson, and a leader in the development of health care consumerism initiatives. Jay also leads the firm's Health & Group Benefits business development efforts in the Central U.S. He participates on Towers Watson's Intellectual Capital Council and is responsible for helping create and deploy innovative program strategies. Jay is a recognized authority on consumer-driven health plans and account-based health care models and he serves as a key leader of Towers Watson's activities in these areas. He has assisted numerous clients in designing, implementing and evaluating these programs. In 2008, Jay was listed in a national industry publication's first "Power List," as one of the ten most influential people in our industry, and was also identified as Most Innovative Consultant in CDHC Solutions Magazine's annual list of "CDHC Superstars". Nick Shipley, The McManus Group Nick Shipley, Director of Government Relations at The McManus Group in Washington DC, will cover the latest healthcare legislation updates. Since joining the McManus Group in 2009, Nick has served as the lead Democratic lobbyist working closely with the House and Senate Members to advocate on a wide-range of issues, with an extensive focus on the recently passed health reform legislation. He worked closely with Senators Schumer to halt and amend efforts to curtail participation in Flexible Spending Accounts. Additionally, he has worked with House and Senate Democrats such as House Democratic Caucus Chairman John Larson and former Senate Banking Chairman Chris Dodd on a variety of issues confronting the debit card industry, including Senator Durbin’s interchange amendment on the Financial Services legislation, and Senator Schumer’s Fair Gift Card Act of 2009. |
